INT. KITCHEN TABLE- NIGHT

A table of small, nearly empty plates of tapas. Candles lit at the beginning of the night have burnt nearly all the way down. It's quiet.

Rayen
But don't you want to be
with someone - to find
someone? I mean you're out
there. It's great. It's hot.
I get that. But don't
you ever just want someone
to have. Don't you ever feel
lonely?

Anya
Yes I do. I feel it. It aches.
But you don't fix lonely by
'having' someone. You
know that. Ten years of this
marriage. Don't tell me you
don't feel it.

Rayen
It's different.

Anya
It's not that different. There's
just more noise, that's all.

Rayen
Maybe I didn't mean someone
to have. Maybe I meant someone
to have you

Anya
We do this. We fill up our lives
with other people. Boyfriends.
Husbands. Hook ups. Children. But
the loneliest people are the ones
who thought they were meant to be
part of something. All these men -
married men - wishing someone would
just see them. Wives and girlfriends,
wishing they were wanted. Kids..

Rayen
(interrupts)
But no one ever means to do that
- to anyone. It's just what we do.
Because. Because it's not easy.
Being together. Staying together.

Anya
See? In the end it's the same thing.
It comes for all of us, whether
we're with someone or not. Lonely
isn't what happens when you can't
find someone else. It's what happens
when you lose yourself.

Reyen
When it aches, is it bad? Do you
feel it very deeply?

Anya
I feel it in my blood. In my
bones.

Rayen
I just wish you had someone. No -
that someone HAD you. I wish.

Anya
But I do have someone. I have me.
And I like silence. I really like
the silence.

Rayen
To hold you. That's what I
really meant. What I meant to
say.

Anya
I'll find my someone. If he's
out there. Everyone does, right?
Maybe he'll find me.
You know what's not easy?

Rayen
Being alone ?

Anya
Being human.
